Skin Boosters: What They Are and Who They Suit

Skin booster injection treatment on the face

If your skin looks dull, dehydrated or crepey even with a good skincare routine, you may have heard about skin boosters. They are one of the most popular treatments for a natural, healthy glow. Here is what skin boosters really are, and who they suit.

What are skin boosters?

Skin boosters are tiny injections of lightweight hyaluronic acid, sometimes combined with vitamins, amino acids or antioxidants. They are placed just under the skin surface across the treated area. Hyaluronic acid attracts and holds water, so the skin becomes deeply hydrated, smoother and more radiant from within.

Skin boosters vs fillers

  • Fillers use a thicker gel placed in specific spots to add volume and shape, for example in the lips or cheeks.
  • Skin boosters use a thin gel spread evenly across the skin to improve quality, hydration and texture. They do not change the shape of your face.

Who are skin boosters good for?

  • Dull, tired or dehydrated looking skin
  • Fine lines and early crepiness
  • Rough texture and enlarged pores
  • Areas such as the face, neck, hands and around the eyes
  • People preparing for a wedding or big event who want a natural glow

What happens during treatment

  1. Numbing cream is applied for about 30 to 45 minutes.
  2. Many tiny injections, or a fine cannula, deliver the booster evenly.
  3. The treatment takes around 20 to 30 minutes.
  4. Small bumps and redness settle within 24 to 48 hours.

How many sessions, and how long do results last?

A typical course is 2 to 3 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart. The glow develops over a few weeks and usually lasts around 6 to 9 months, with a maintenance session to keep results going.

Aftercare

  • Avoid make up for 24 hours.
  • Skip the gym, sauna and alcohol for a day.
  • Avoid facials, peels and lasers for about two weeks.
  • Use sunscreen daily. See our sunscreen guide.

Who should avoid skin boosters?

Treatment is postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding, active skin infections or acne flares in the area, and in people with certain medical conditions. Always choose a qualified doctor and genuine, approved products.

Combining treatments

Skin boosters work well alongside HIFU for firmness, Botox for expression lines, and HydraFacial for maintenance. Book an assessment at our anti-ageing clinic in Ahmedabad.
